Public summary

City Class Mine Countermeasure Vessel is Belgium's new stand-off mine countermeasure vessel class. The City class, also known as the Vlissingen class, consists of twelve mine countermeasure vessels (MCMV) entering service with the Belgian Navy and Royal Netherlands Navy. This class was developed to replace the older Tripartite and Alkmaar classes. Operationally, the class is oriented toward anti-submarine warfare, embarked helicopter operations, mine countermeasures, as well as situational awareness and combat direction.
