The Yuan Wang class is a space-tracking and telemetry-support ship family, not a combat submarine class. These ships support missile, satellite and space-event tracking by carrying specialized sensors and communications systems. Their value is strategic test and space-programme support, placing them outside normal naval combatant comparisons but inside China's wider maritime instrumentation network.
