The Han Type 091 class was China's first-generation nuclear attack submarine design. It provided early nuclear-submarine experience and long-range undersea patrol capacity, but it is much less capable and quieter than newer SSN classes. In modern comparisons it should be treated as an ageing legacy platform rather than a current high-end attack submarine.
