Luhai Class (Type 051B)

Public description

The Luhai Type 051B class represents an older generation of Chinese destroyer design and served as a bridge between legacy missile destroyers and the more modern Luyang families. Its main value was general escort duty, anti-surface warfare and fleet presence rather than high-end integrated air defence. Modernized systems can keep the single ship useful, but the class is no longer a front-line benchmark for PLAN destroyer capability.
