Public description
The River class is Canada's future Type 26-derived surface combatant programme and the planned replacement for the Halifax class. The design is intended to combine Aegis/CMS 330 integration, SPY-7 radar, Mk 41 VLS, Standard/ESSM missiles, Naval Strike Missile, ASW sonars and CH-148 helicopter operations into a high-end multi-role destroyer. Until deliveries mature, the class represents planned future capability rather than the current operational surface fleet.
